Swirly Skull Tote Bag

Wayne Chisnall, of London, England, created this Swirly Skull tote bag. Per a request, he had a series of these printed, as an affordable alternative to normal paper prints. If you are interested in purchasing one, you can find more info about them here. I love the concept printing artwork on an alternative media. Through various artists I've talked to, their artwork sells better when it's not a traditional print. When it's tactile and usable, it's more likely to be purchased than something that will hang on a wall. Just a thought for you other artists looking to branch out from traditional prints. Crystal "Clear" Skull

Bart DeKeyzer created this skull and image to remind us that hindsight is 20/20, as long as we have eyes to see that.

Okay, maybe that wasn't Bart's message in all of this, but I thought it sounded pretty good. It's always clearer at the end when you can reflect and hopefully learn from what you just experienced. Southwest Print Pictorial

I was asked by a few people on the website Reddit to show how I created one of my last manicures but I didn't have much time to show the steps in nail polish...so I hand drew something really quick to share with them. And I figured I might as well share with you all here! It's a very crude and somewhat messy pictorial, but I wanted to share it here with you all in case you were wondering and wanted to try it yourself. Let me know what you think! :)

Bright Southwest Inspired Print

Happy Friday, Everyone! If you're in the States, what are you all doing for Memorial Day?? Hopefully relaxing and having way too much fun :) I'm up visting my parents for the weekend and get to see my sister as well! Should be a good time :)

While I'm here, I'll be volunteering at an art festival that my Mom helps put together and I really wanted something fun and bright and just out there. I've really loved tribal/aztec/southwestern inspired patterns lately and I decided to go for something similar again since I so loved the last one I did. 

I used 4 different bright colors for this look with a base of My Vampire is Buff because it's just perfect for nail art. I did repeat the same pattern on each nail, but I mixed up the way the colors were laid out and I think that adds some extra interest to these...not that this sort of print doesn't already have a lot going on ;) 

I had a tiny bit of trouble with the light purple color I used because over the green it got completely wasted out and loks like a really light green instead of a light lavender.

Skull Pipe

Someone over at Crafthaus was nice enough to let Michael Mueller know about our site and suggested he make a submission. Thanks to both of them we have this little beauty from his German workshop to share as well as a great description...


"This is a 3d printed, fully working tobacco pipe. The head is made with glazed ceramics, the mouthpiece is antique bronze glossy."

"A pipe is definitely a matchmaker. It makes you look distinguished and sexy. Like a successful scientist, a confident playboy, or an experienced sailor."

"Yeah, tobacco is bad for your health, so use bubbles instead! Works even better cause it gives you a great lemon flavor! Of course this depends on the dish soap you use. The ladies will appreciate it!"

I'm just as impressed with the final result as I am with the process of making it.  I might just have to break down and get one to reach that level of sophistication I've been trying to achieve.  Of course I'll use bubbles, too, but I might have to go with the  lavender floral & mint scented soap on our counter here.  Thanks for the great submission, Michael!

Skully Valentines

Artist/Printmaker Coralette Damme, AKA The Crafty Hag, in St. Petersburg, FL shared with us a pair of hand printed Valentine's Day appropriate note cards that she created.

One may be a bit skeptical to receive a token of affection with a skull on it.  However, if you are up on your Christian Saint reliquary knowledge you will understand how a skull and St.Valentine's Day go together perfectly. (HERE is the visual answer for those not familiar). It seems to me that a skull would be the natural symbol opposed to a heart. Thank you for submitting your excellent creations to us and allowing us to share them and reflect upon them.

Super Skullistration Saturday

John MDC is a "bone"ified bad ass skull artist.  Almost everything he creates is of the skull.  He's been featured on our site multiple times (here, here, here, and here) and that should stand as a testament to the multitude of skulls he has to submit. 

John's site is teeming with skull art.  Prints, jewelry, shirts, etc.  I don't know if I've ever seen so much skull art produced by one person, aside from our own Skull Master of course.  Thanks again for the great submissions, John!

"Moosebike" Skull

This linocut on birch bark comes from Marnie Blair of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. The message included this note, "It depicts a skeleton riding an old exercise bike that has a moose skull strapped to the front. The bike is being propelled through the air by an old boat motor. I carved this based on a still life I used to set up for my drawing students at Thompson Rivers University. The students called it "Moosebike" and they loved drawing it."

The linocut it's self is a great piece of curiosity. The collection of images is interesting to say the least. Placing it on the birch bark lends a wonderful wooden quality as if this piece had it's own natural frame. Thanks for the great work, Marnie!
