Mosaic Skull

This flat faced skull is the handy work of Glen Francis aka - "Mount Rockula" from Victoria, BC, Canada.  Placed together like the jagged pieces of our own skulls and held together with a "skin" of grout.  I only wish we could see the rest of the work that this little fella gets to look at everyday.  Thanks for sharing your skull with us, Glen!

This week's simulacrum are a combination of some real hard heads...

David Blohm of Adrian, MI found this one on a flower pot at his favorite Mexican restaurant.  

Job has this long faced skull coming out of his bathroom floor.

Justyna Walewicz caught this possibly yawning stone face skull. I guess you're get tired of just sitting there all day, too.

Mosaic Sugar Skull Coaster Tile

This smiley stained glass skull coaster is from Faith Spicer-Jenkins in Kent, England. She created it from left over off cuts of her stained glass works. This skull is made from iridescent pink and green glass with dark blue and is 10cm Squared .

What a great way to recycle your scraps and turn them into something fun, festive, and functional.  I'm sure every drink is that much better when it gets to rest upon this brightly colored brain case.  Thanks for sharing your skull, Faith!

Super Embellished Skull Saturday

After visiting South America, joining a street art project mosaicing the streets of Brazil, and spending time with shamans in Peru, Lauren Baker had an epiphany of becoming an artist. She started using ethically sourced animal skulls, paint, tiles, and other embellishments to pay homage to the living creatures.

Each piece is unique and breathes it's own life back into the skull with amazing color and vibrancy.  You can see that Lauren uses quite a few methods and techniques which is an awesome way of keeping things fresh and creative.  Thanks for sharing the excellent works, Lauren!

Sunday Simulacra - Version 6.24

Partaking in sustenance is a necessary requirement for our skull hunters, and this also happens to be a great time and place to find those sneaky little skulls around us.

Jennifer Dzielak enjoyed this cup of "pirate coffee"....

....and Cullen Paradise was grabbing pizza with a friend and noticed this little guy in the tile floor.
