beadyeyedbrat Skulls

That's right, the beadyeyedbrat from San Diego, CA is the creator of this gruesome paper mache skull trio. These stony faced figures appeared to have been chiseled from the hardest parts of the Earth. A total reverse of the soft, limp, wet material that made them. Thanks for sharing these, beadyeyedbrat!

Diablo Sugar Skull

This devilishly handsome figure was made by Michelle C. Stewart of Seattle, WA. She created it from Papier-mâché and acrylic paint with glass eyes.

Sugar skulls aren't always my favorite(sorry), but this bad boy has me grinning. He's got traits of sugar sweetness, but that's just a glossy exterior hiding the true sinister motives inside. Plus, it looks like a pinata and I can make candy a metaphor for "sinister motives". Ha! Thanks for sharing, Michelle!

Super Winged Skull Saturday

Angel Salavec is to blame for this almost overwhelming load of wonderful winged skulls. She apologized for sending so many, and it's not often that we post this many pics in one day, but I couldn't help but share the entire flock of cranial creations. These handmade paper mache and plaster cast wall skullptures are all so different yet the same.

Believe it or not, there are even more skulls to check out in Angel's Etsy store.  Even throughout a common theme she manages to create vastly unique characters.  The variety was demanding of display so I had to share them all with all of you.  Thanks for spreading your wings, Angel!

"Forest" Skull

This paper mache map skull, appropriately titled "Forest", is courtesy of Kurtiss Lofstrom of Portland, OR.

It's not a good thing when you can't see the forest for the trees, but seeing the forest on the skull is much better. Thanks for the reminder, Kurtiss!

Day of the Dead Sheriff

Artist Lorelei Lombard at DEVOUT HOME in Rocky River, OH sent us this sculpture she made of Paper Mache & Plaster over Chicken Wire. It stands 30" tall.

Rag Rugging & Papier Mache Skull

Mummy/Sugar Skull

Straight out of Orange County, CA comes Dany Hernandez with this half mummy, half sugar skull that emanates the liveliness of death.

Even though the skull is a symbol of death, Dany has managed to take it one step further by separating and then combing lively skulls, and morbidly deceased ones. The shriveled and dried looking mummy gives extra life to the sugar skull, and the opposite holds true as well. Be sure to check out Dany's FB page for tons of other skulls as well.
